Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography (Institute of Oceanography) is a typical research organization and marine museum in Vietnam:
• History and scale:
Established in 1922–23 under the French as the Indochina Fisheries Oceanography Department, the Institute is one of the first marine research centers in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. After many stages of development, it is now part of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, with headquarters in Nha Trang and institutes in Hai Phong and Hanoi
• Location:
Located at No. 1 Cau Da, Vinh Nguyen Ward, about 4–6 km from the center of Nha Trang, located on high ground near the stone bridge, ideal for deep-sea research
• Main tasks:
Basic and applied scientific research on oceanography, marine biodiversity, fisheries and aquaculture technology, as well as education and conservation of marine resources
• Oceanographic Museum – a destination Attractive tourism:
- Displaying over 4,000 species and over 20,000 specimens of marine plants and animals, including specimens, fossils and live specimens- The "miniature aquarium" area has over 300 species of marine life living in glass tanks, the interface is like being lost in the ocean- Diverse sightseeing activities: outdoor tank, whale skeleton, exhibition on Hoang Sa - Truong Sa, diving under the sea.
• Opening hours & ticket prices:
Open daily (6am - 6pm), except for holidays according to regulations. Entrance fee: 40,000 VND/adult, 20,000 VND/student, 10,000 VND/child
